Automated snapshots

Browse the guide

Periodically capture a backup of your server's structure and Packet's settings on a schedule, keeping the most recent N. If a new snapshot shows a big part of your server suddenly gone, such as half its roles or half its channels, Packet also keeps the snapshots from just before that until they're 30 days old, on top of your N (never more than N extra). So if you only notice a raid later, you still have a backup from before it. Automated snapshots are tamper-resistant. They can't be deleted manually, so your safety net stays intact. (Configure → Auto snapshots.)

A snapshot holds your server settings, roles, categories, channels and their permissions, onboarding, the welcome screen and widget, AutoMod rules, your emoji and stickers by name, and Packet's feature settings. It holds no messages, no members, no member roles and no bans. Member role backups are their own owner-only panel on the Snapshots page, and ban list copies are on the Bans page.
