Sticky roles & temporary roles

Browse the guide

Sticky roles restore a member's roles when they rejoin. Temporary roles let staff grant a role that auto-expires, via /temprole. Staff can also do it from /packet home: choose Features, then Temporary roles. (Configure → Role Caller.)

Each has its own switch at the bottom of the Role Caller section, and works whether or not your role menus are on. With Sticky roles on, Packet remembers the roles a member held when they leave and gives them back if they rejoin. Leave its list empty to restore all of them, or list the roles to restore only those. A role on a timer comes back only for the time it had left. Packet never restores @everyone, a bot or integration role, or a role above its own. If a member never comes back, Packet forgets their roles after about 90 days.

With Temporary roles on, staff with Manage Roles run /temprole add with a member, a role and how long, like 30m, 2h, 3d or 1w. Packet takes the role off when the time is up, even if it restarted in between. /temprole remove ends one early, and /temprole list shows the ones still running. Maximum duration (minutes) caps how long one grant may last. Leave it blank for up to a year. A role menu and the shop can hand out timed roles too.
