Dynamic voice channels

rooms that appear when they're needed

Browse the guide

Stop running out of voice channels. Point Packet at a hub channel and it makes rooms on demand, in one of two shapes. A clone hub leaves the hub itself perfectly usable and keeps one spare numbered channel trailing the set (Lounge 1, Lounge 2, and so on), so there's a free room the moment the last one fills, and empty ones clean themselves up. A personal hub is join-to-create: joining moves the member into a room of their own with a control panel to rename it, lock it, set a user limit, permit or kick someone, or hand it over. Personal rooms can start open to everyone, open to one role, or locked until the owner lets people in. Give a hub a role and those members can also call up a room with /voice create. Name new rooms with a template, using {user.name} and {game} for whatever the owner is playing.

Use it when voice channels sit empty most of the time, or you're creating and deleting them by hand. A clone hub suits shared spaces nobody owns: a general hangout lounge, a stack of identical study rooms. A personal hub suits spaces one member should control: their own gaming session, their own study group, somewhere they can lock the door.

A worked example. A "Join to Talk" personal hub spins up a member's own room named {user.name}'s room, or {user.name} · playing {game} once Packet knows what they're up to. They get a control panel to rename it, cap it at a few friends, or lock it and let people in one at a time. Beside it, a "Lounge" clone hub keeps one spare room on standby (Lounge 1, Lounge 2, and so on), and nobody needs a control panel because no single member owns it.
